Unique Charm of The Ridge Assured - (16 Feb 2015 )

In planning of The Ridge it became clear that the site presented a unique charm derived from its position at the foothills of the Illawarra escarpment, the rolling topography and also the semi rural nature that comes from the large lot zoning. To ensure this semi rural feel is maintained design guidelines have been prepared that aim to foster modern interpretations of Colonial Australian architecture as well as strongly supporting principles of sustainable environmental design.

To prepare these guidelines architects Saturday Studio were engaged and worked closely with the Sheargold Group to translate their vision into a user-friendly document. Nick Richter, principal of Saturday said the guidelines “have been carefully developed over several years and encourage a concise set of architectural features creating a consistency of form across the site and subtly underpin the individual expression that you and your designer or architect put into the design of your home. The result will be a rich architectural tapestry with a unifying theme.”

Two versions of the document are available, a full length version which should be utilised by architects, designers and builders chosen by purchasers to build their home and also a summary document that easily conveys the overarching principles to prospective purchasers.
