Development Manager’s Update - (7 Oct 2014)

The temporary road and creek crossing’s construction has been finished and has been opened for traffic. This has enabled the closing of Smiths Lane to enable the long awaited upgrade and provision of flood free access by the construction of a new bridge.

Prior to the commencement of these works the diversion of the existing water mains will take place.

Earthworks are well underway, with the focus on releasing and cleaning out farm dams for construction of water quality basins. A temporary diversion has also been constructed to facilitate the rejuvenation of the creek.

Procedures have been prepared detailing the precautions that take place to ensure that any potential indigenous artefacts encountered on site are protected. Earthworks do not commence unless approved by the Office of Environment and Heritage.

Wet conditions brought works to a standstill during August, although breaks in the rain have allowed construction to recommence according to the project programme.
